Swisscom Mobile, the leading mobile telecommunications carrier in Switzerland, announced today that they have released a new and improved version of their popular Desktop SMS email-to-SMS application, developed by RedOxygen. This new release, Desktop SMS v.2.0, builds on the success of Swisscom Mobile's existing Desktop SMS product. It features a range of powerful new features and an even better user interface than the first generation of Desktop SMS. Swisscom Mobile product manager Josef Kremer anticipates a good response to this new release. "We have been pleased with Desktop SMS's success since we launched last August", said Kremer, "and we expect Version 2.0 to be even more successful. RedOxygen has delivered a great new range of features that are going to make this an even more practical tool for our subscribers." Like the original Desktop SMS, Version 2.0 allows Swisscom Mobile subscribers to send and receive SMS messages and SMS calendar reminders from within Microsoft Outlook. In addition, Version 2.0 introduces new features that include the ability for users to send long messages (up to 750 characters), schedule SMS messages to be sent at a configurable later time and date and receive confirmation of delivery of their messages.
